Benedetti S, Scoglio S, et al., Oxygen radical absorbance capacity of phycocyanin and phycocyanobilin from the food supplement Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, J Med Food. 2010 Feb;13(1):223-7.
This study proved that the AFA-phycocyanins concentrated in AphaMax® are the most potent antioxidants among all purified natural molecules.
Benedetti S., Scoglio S., et al., Antioxidant properties of a novel phycocyanin extract from the blue-green alga Aphanizomenon flos-aquae. Life Sci. 2004 Sep 24;75(19):2353-62.
Here, the antioxidants activity of the AFA-phycocyanins showed a strong ability to inhibit lipo-peroxidation, the oxidation of the cell’s lipid membrane, which generates malonyldialdehyde (MDA), which is a marker of general system oxidation. We have 3 different human and animal studies where MDA was reduced by about 36-38%, which means that AphaMax® is able to bring back oxidation to a normal physiological level.
Scoglio S., Benedetti Y. et al. The effects of the AFA-extract Klamin® on humans neurons in vitro, data contained in the patent PCT/EP2007/005622, U.S. Patent N° 9,522,167).
In this study, a minimal amount of Klamin®, mostly thanks to its content of AFA-phycocyanins, was able to eliminate completely the oxidation and damage to neurons by different oxidating substances.

In this study, published in Italy, AphaMax® was able to completely eliminate the inflammation generated by injection of capsaicin in both the stomach and the urinary bladder of mice.
Cavalchini A., Scoglio S., Complementary Treatment of Psoriasis with an AFA-phycocyanins product: a preliminary 10-cases study, in International Medical Journal, Vol. 16, 3, pp. 221-4, Sept. 2009.
10 patients of different types of psoriasis, who did not respond neither to traditional not to the new biological drugs, took 3 tablets of an AphaMax® based product; after 3 months 8 patients had solved their psoriasis, while a ninth one was free of psoriasis after 3 more months.
Scoglio S. et al, Inhibitory effects of Aphanizomenon flos- aquae constituents on human UDP-glucose dehydrogenase activity, in Journal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2016 Feb.23.
Here, the ability of AFA-phycocyanins to inhibit the enzyme UDP-glucose dehydrogenase showed to be relevant for the inhibition of cancer metastases, which were inhabited at about 95% with just 100 nanomolars of AFA-PCs, an almost infinitesimal dose.
Kuriakose GC, Kurup MG., Evaluation of renoprotective effect of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae on cisplatin-induced renal dysfunction in rats. Ren Fail. 2008;30(7):717-25.
An extract of AFA, similar to AphaMax®, showed to be able to almost completely eliminate the damages to the kidneys by the heavy chemotherapy drug cisplatin in rats.

These studies showed the ability of phycocyanins to stimulate the release and migration of fibroblasts, a main type of somatic stem cells; while our study by Sedriep et al, showed the ability of Klamin® to stimulate the release and migration of neural stem cells. All this shows how Klamax® is a very powerful stem
